OVERVIEW
Whatarethose!? a highly used catchphrase that caught the attention of sneaker enthusiasts worldwide. The graphics on this page were created pre 2020 and unfortunately never came to develop into a fully functioning app.
MY ROLE
I was contracted as a web designer for the owners of whatarethose.com and later evolved into different roles in the company throughout the project. Including a UX UI Designer, web coordinator and part time editor for the blog.
CORE FUNCTIONS
The websites original purpose was to bring 'Sneakerheads' together to stay up to date with the newest sneaker releases and form a community where they could buy and sell sneakers amongst other traders alike.
The app is geared to be a social media app, including features like an anchored camera button, a calendar, messaging and sections for ads.

RELEASE ALERT/REMINDER CALENDAR
With sneaker releases being so volatile especially with the usage of bots by resellers to automatically buy out the stock of many suppliers, we wanted to give the users a way to be reminded and give them a better chance at purchasing their limited edition sneakers.
REDESIGN
Although the app never came to completion, I took the liberty of revisiting the slides previously created on Illustrator/Photoshop and updating some key elements.
Items included but not limited to, such as the logo mark, the amount of bold coloring throughout the app to make the design easier on the users eye. Overall, the goal was and always is to improve the experience and usability.

BRANDING
SKETCH DRAFTS
Taking the classical route to designing a logo, I made sure to take to the pencil and pad to flesh out my logo ideas fresh from my head.
DIGITAL DRAFTS
After my sketches I went inspiration hunting and found a few more logos that were something similar to what I was going for. I blend the styles with my ideas and came up with a few more iterations in illustrator before selecting the best option.
MARKETING
MEDIA CREATION
Being the web coordinator that I became, I began the creation of content to bring attention from the masses. I outsourced a couple videographers to create the videos you see below, I curated and edited all the photos to be used within the dimensions needed and gave the direction as well as music to be included in the content.
GRAPHIC CREATION
Many graphics were created using mainly Illustrator and some photoshop, during process of the whole project. A few favorites are displayed below, including the thank you/announcement graphic for amassing over a million hits on our website.
SOCIAL ADVERTISING
Below is a screenshot of the websites Blog page once upon a time, it has been changed since then and is no longer being maintained. Its use was to share users shoes and sneaker related videos when tagged with our hashtag
